Education Matters

"Coletha was a secretary/tutor for SELF Enhancing Literacy Fundamentals, Funded by The Barbara Bush READ Commission in Houston, Texas.  SELF's focus was Adult Literacy. The Director was Delores Franklin. She is the cousin of Pastor Jackson, Pastor of the largest Black Congregation in Houston's Bloody Fifth Ward. Coletha would bring her small sons; Jonathan and Joseph with her as she helped adult church members prepare for their GED exam."

Martin Franklin, Missouri City, TX

"I grew up with Coletha and attended elementary school with her. My mother was a nurse and her mother worked at the Houston Public Library Downtown. We went to different middle schools and high schools. I was sent to Albert Thomas yet Coletha's father IS Thomas Albert, owner of LA Enterprises - a million dollar company now run by Lois Albert, Bridgitte Bracken and Albertine Albert in Houston, Texas.  Yet teachers set her to Crispus Attucks, named for the first person to be killed in America's bid for independence from England. No wonder she has published over five books!

"Coletha Albert was my student at Worthing High School's Vocational Office Education program. Coletha typed 20 words per minute on a great day.  What I didn't know is Coletha was excelling in Reading, Writing and Spelling class with her instructor Mrs. Dorothy Aubrey.  She had actually won the state of Texas poetry award for her class. Of course she could not attend due to her family's involvement in "JWs". It was a waste of resources to send someone like her to work at NASA at Clear Lake City. I am impressed that she has done as well as she can. Thank you Steve Jobs for donating Apple IIe computers to Houston Independent School District.

Mrs. Marilyn Malveaux, Instructor

"Life is 10 percent of what you make it and 90 percent of how you take it.

I don't know who wrote this but that's Coletha all day. She keeps a positive attitude, makes the best of her situation. I really admire her perspective on her life; she knows that there is no wind at her back so she bought a leaf blower to put back there!"

Ayelette Ben-Hamzid

"Coletha was my fellow classmate at Eisenhower High School. She is an awesome person and I wish she and I could have been better friends back then. I am grateful to social media that I found her again. I am so proud of her!

"What I admire most about Coletha is she is a Mom just like I am. It's a very difficult job. She was my chaperone when I was dating. I was supposed to be her chaperone when it was her turn...that did NOT happen! That's Coletha! That's what gives birth to her writing, she thinks outside of EVERY and ANY box.
